Traditional Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture

I have  a special interest in treating women's problems.

These include:

  • fertility support

  • pregnancy support prenatally and postnatally.

Acupuncture has been found to provide short-term pain relief for the following complaints:

  • osteo-arthritis knee pain

  • chronic lower back pain

  • stress/tension type headaches

  • migraines

  • short-term relief from tempromandibular pain (TMD/TMJ)

Research has also shown that there is a short-term improvement in the symptoms of overactive bladder syndrome.

Whatever you are suffering from - I offer a free 15 minute consultation.  Please get in touch and I can let you know whether I can help you or not.

Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles along the surface of the body stimulating individual acupuncture points. Over thousands of years of clinical practice, the Chinese believe that certain acupuncture points, when stimulated, have a specific physiological effect on mind and body, influencing a natural healing response.

I practise Traditional Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture, not to be confused with Western 'dry needling' techniques, as practised by some physiotherapists, doctors or osteopaths, which are learned on short, weekend courses.  I undertook a three year degree course and I have a bachelor of science in traditional chinese medicine.

Traditional Chinese Medicine: acupuncture has a different history of ideas to that of Western medicine and looks at health and disease in a different light.  A person receiving acupuncture is being treated by an alternative methodology to that of conventional Western medicine. If a person's health problems are not resolved by conventional medicine, an alternative exploration into that person's disease, using methods crafted over thousands of years by the Chinese, often provides an answer, especially for problems which are not given a specific Western diagnosis.
